In order to understand where I’m coming from, we must first go through some key details that lead to my conclusion.

Release of the Snyder Cut
Back in May, after years of anticipation and passionate worldwide trending fan campaigns, the Snyder Cut of Justice League was finally announced. In The Hollywood Reporter article titled “It Will Be an Entirely New Thing”, it was reported that the Snyders, Debbie and Zack, put together a presentation and, in early February, invited a select group of executives from WB, HBO Max, and DC to their house to screen his cut of Justice League. After the screening, Snyder outlined ideas for not just releasing the cut but the concept of episodes and cliffhangers. Snyder also spent April and May reaching out to the cast and discussing the new development, letting them know that their services may be needed.
Snyder Cut on HBO Max
Let us rewind a little, going back to November last year, I read this article on ScreenRant by Stephen M. Colbert. He very eloquently laid down Why HBO Max is Perfect For Releasing the Snyder Cut. In this very accurate and prophetic article, he expresses the idea that additional footage could be filmed to complete the Snyder Cut and get it released in the format of episodes incorporating elements from his original script. He also suggested that this could work as an Elseworld story (which Snyder has recently confirmed) and continue it with future seasons completing his 5-part arc.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League
A month later, on Vero, Zack had hinted that the title of the Snyder Cut would be Zack Snyder’s Justice League. This led some of us to think that Snyder might be able to restore his cut back to his Original Vision. This idea that all the elements, which he said back in March 2019 at Snyder Con, he didn’t even shoot (because of studio interference and rewrites to his OG script), could possibly be added back and released as a new film/series, blew my mind. This would be more true to his vision than what the compromised 214-minute Snyder Cut would have been if it was just finished and released. Henceforth, we understood what this title meant and decided to address the Snyder Cut as Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Although there were some complications with regards to getting that title, it was recently confirmed in a THR article that the official title of this new updated project would be Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Into The Snyderverse
Adding to what I stated earlier, I believe the Snyders pitched their Full Vision during the presentation back in February and that AT&T and HBO Max executives wanted to fully realize his 5-part arc, expanding it even further possibly into other mediums like live-action or animated spin-offs within the Snyderverse. Zack Snyder is the hottest director in Hollywood right now. With the Streaming Wars currently being at an all-time high, Exclusivity, whether it’s content or talent, is at a premium. I believe HBO Max is absolutely going to try to keep Zack Snyder on the WarnerMedia streaming platform and the best way to do that is to let him complete his 5-part arc but also expand it into multiple spin-offs.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League has currently been undergoing additional photography. According to a recent report, Jared Leto, Joe Manganiello, Amber Heard, Ray Fisher, and Ben Affleck have been called back for filming additional scenes with Zack Snyder and crew. I believe the new scenes they’re shooting are for the Knightmare timeline, amongst other scenes that Snyder couldn’t shoot before. These new scenes could include characters working together with Batman that you couldn’t have even imagined. Here‘s a list of characters that could be joining the additional photography for Zack Snyder’s Justice League and a possible set of characters you could see in the Knightmare world.
Expanding The Knightmare Timeline
The Injustice-inspired Knightmare timeline, as teased in 2016’s Batman v Superman, is the signature part of Zack’s original plan for his 5-part arc of Superman. All those points I’ve iterated so far has led me to believe that Zack might be expanding his Knightmare world with more depth, world-building, and more DC characters. I think Zack, being a huge Star Wars fan, took some inspiration from it and is building a world that’s potentially a very dark version of the Star Wars world similar to the Injustice Elseworld story. You can say that Darkseid is like The Emperor, Superman is like Vader, his super soldiers could be the First Order, and Batman’s ragtag team could be The Resistance. If this is what Snyder has in mind, he would love to expand this world more, given the chance, and I think this is not only happening in the form of more Knightmare sequences in Zack Snyder’s Justice League but also in future seasons and in possible spin-offs within the Snyderverse. These spin-offs could include a Ben Affleck Batman series (live-action or animated) on HBO Max, a Green Lantern animated prequel series, a Cyborg series starring Ray Fisher, a Knightmare animated series, amongst others.
There is so much they can do to expand the lore of the Snyderverse and add many more DC characters and storylines. I believe there’s a great future for Zack Snyder and his Snyderverse on HBO Max for years to come.
