Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman) has been cast in Blumhouse and Universal’s Firestarter reboot THR reports.

Based on the 1980’s Stephen King book, the story follows a young girl Charlie McGee, who inherited multiple abilities, including Pyrokinesis from her parents, who were part of an experiment in college which gave them powers. Now, the government is trying to capture Charlie and harness her powers as a weapon.

There is no mention of who Efron will play, but it’s assumed he’ll play the role of Andy McGee, Charlie’s father, played by David Keith in the original.

Keith Thomas (The Vigil) will direct from a script by Scott Teems (The Quarry).
