Margot Robbie stock continues to rise in Hollywood with her standout roles, and with the upcoming release of I,Tonya and the hype surrounding Robbie’s performance as Tonya Harding, Warner Bros. are keen on getting her to reprise the role of Harley Quinn.
Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad was one of the highlights in David Ayer’s DC Villain team up film.
According to The Wrap, insiders within the ranks of Warner Bros. claim the studio are mulling over three potential DC Film’s Quinn could appear in.
Suicide Squad 2 is the obvious place for the character to return, considering cameras are set to begin this year with The Accountant’s Gavin O’Connor set to direct.
Birds of Prey is another possible project, with insiders claiming Robbie has taken a keen interest in the property since playing Quinn. Fans of the comic book will know this isn’t a Quinn solo, the comics focused on the superhero team of Batgirl, Black Canary and Huntress. Perhaps those three could take on a group of villains led by Harley Quinn? Screenwriter Christina Hodson is scripting the Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey spinoff.
Joker Vs Harley, Leto Vs Robbie. It’s said to be in kin to an Mr and Mrs Smith type film. With the two psychotic lovers battling it out. Crazy, Stupid Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are said to write and direct.
From the latest report, it sounds like David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens has been put on the back burner, perhaps due to the news Bright 2 has been announced and Ayer will focus his attention on that, or perhaps Warner Bros. are no longer interested in the project.
What film would you like to see Harley Quinn pop up in next?
