There’s good news and theres bad news, the good news is Taika Waititi is returning to helm Thor 4, the bad news, due to the Thor-quel (yes, I went there), Akira has now been put on indefinite hold
THR reports Waititi has signed on the dotted line to write and direct a follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok. This meant Warners long-in-developement Akira film, based on the classic Japanese manga was being delayed so Waititi could focus on Thor 4. However, Warners have now put the film on Indefinite Hold.
Waititi was meeting with Japanese actors for the two lead roles in Akira, the studio delayed the production on the film so he could fight the right people for the roles. This week’s announcement caught Warner Bros. off guard, there’s rumblings that creative differences reared its ugly head again, reportedly due to script issues. THR report states Warners are waiting for Waititi’s schedule to clear up so he can return after Thor 4. But we’ll see how this plays out.
Chris Hemsworth is expected to reprise his role as Thor, the god of thunder.
