Less than a day after it was reported that Jonah Hill dropped out of a Batman role, Paul Dano is announced he will be playing The Riddler in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. He will be joining the already stellar cast of Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. He will also be the second iteration of the Villain to grace the screen, with Jim Carrey proceeding him.
With Dano being added, fans are starting to get a glimpse of what exactly The Batman will be about. People have speculated that it may draw a lot of inspiration from the classic Batman storyline “Hush” since both, Catwoman, and Riddler play heavily into that plot. There have also been rumors that the film may be inspired by “The Long Halloween”, another Jeph Loeb penned miniseries about the Dark Knight with multiple villains appearing throughout the story.
Whichever source material they choose, we are definitely in for a treat with this amazing cast coming together. Be sure to stay tuned for more casting news in the next few months once production begins later this year or early 2020.
The Batman is scheduled for release in theaters June 25th, 2021.
