After 5 years of waiting, fans can finally look forward t seeing another in the long running “Mad Max” series. The website Geeks Worldwide reports that filming for the Fury Road sequel will start filing in Australia in late 2020. No news on whether Tom Hardy or Charlize Theron will return for the sequel and no plot details have been confirmed for this next installment yet.

Despite garnering praise from critics and being nominated for 10 Oscars, Mad Max: Fury Road was a notoriously difficult shoot for the two stars and tensions flared between them while shooting under the hot sun in Namibia. However, now that they’ve had 5+ years to cool down, it may be more likely that they would be willing to come back to do another movie for George Miller.

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron

Mel Gibson was the original star of the Mad Max series starting with “Mad Max” in 1979 followed up by “The Road Warrior” and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” before being replaced by Hardy in this last installment.

George Miller is currently finishing his movie “Three Thousand Years of Longing” starring Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba, scheduled for release later this year.
