Let’s start off with saying Nathan Fillion is not playing Green Lantern.

Now that’s out the way, Deadline reports Nathan Fillion (Castle) has joined the cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

And that’s about it. No further details were provided on who the fan favourite actor would play. Any guesses? Again, not Green Lantern.

The actor has worked with DC before, voicing the Green Lantern in a number of DC animated features. Fillion is another frequent collaborator of Gunn’s, having worked on Slither, Super and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Fillion join newcomers Idris Elba, Steve Agee, Storm Reid, David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior to the franchise. They would be joined by the returning Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis, who would reprise their roles from the first film.

The Suicide Squad is expected to go into production this fall. With it set to hit screens on August 6, 2021.
