Even after the merger between Twentieth Century Fox and Disney, Simon Kinberg is still threatening to bring Gambit starring Channing Tatum (Magic Mike) to the big screen.
Now, I like Gambit, I like Tatum, I like X-Men, I just don’t see a standalone film being made anytime soon. Personally I’d rather Gambit was part of the new X-Men team Disney eventually introduces into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Anyway, during the Hollywood premiere of CBS All Access Twilight Zone reboot, Variety caught up with Kinberg and asked him about the current status of Gambit.
“All of the movies at Fox are being evaluated. I love the idea of Channing playing Gambit. I think we have a great script for it and I think it’s a role he was born to play. It’s a character I grew up loving and I know the fans love. So I suspect, I hope it will happen. There will be a lot of mixing and merging now and I’m all for it and excited to see.”
Bar Deadpool, I don’t see any of Fox’s X-Men plans coming to fruition at Disney. They need to rid of the Singerverse and a fresh start. But stranger things have happened. Would you still be interested in Tatum playing the Rajin Cajun?
