Shocking. Positively Shocking
Today, during a live announcement from Ian Fleming’s Goldeneye villa in Jamaica, the cast for Bond 25 was revealed. It was then followed by live tweets from the official James Bond account on Twitter with videos from some of the cast. After the news, Producer, Barbara Broccoli, said that this time:
“Bond is not on active service and enjoying himself in Jamaica”.
The Plot of the new Bond film sees James having left active service and enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. But his peace is short-lived when his old friend, Felix Leiter from the CIA, turns up asking for help. The mission is to rescue a kidnapped scientist. This, in Bond fashion, turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
The returning cast was also confirmed to feature: Daniel Craig (Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Lea Seydoux (Dr. Swann), Naomi Harris (Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Q), Rory Kinnear, (Tanner), and Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter returns!).
Joining the new film will be Dali Bensallah, Billy Magnusson (Maniac), Ana De Armas (Blade Runner 2049), David Dencik, Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), and Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody). Malek, on his secretive role, said:
“I promise you all, I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing. [It’s] the perfect following up to Bohemian Rhapsody, going from one iconic Brit to an iconic British franchise.”
Filming Above & Below 38 Degrees Fahrenheit
Cary Joji Fukunaga (Maniac), the film’s Director, mentioned the shooting locations included London & Pinewood Studios, Italy, Norway, and Jamaica. Bond 25 will also be produced by Eon and be released by MGM – through its United Artists Releasing joint venture with Annapurna – through Universal.
With the live announcement, many were anticipating a Title reveal for the last and final entry for Daniel Craig’s Bond. Unfortunately, producer, Michael G. Wilson, confirmed that they weren’t ready to announce one just yet:
“Keeping it a secret is a tradition.”
Bond 25 is written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, with Scott Z. Burns, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The film debuts in the U.K. and internationally on April 3rd, 2020 and will then be followed in the U.S. on April 8th, 2020.
