Last week, Sony dropped the unexpected out of the sky: a new Ghostbusters film is in the works from filmmaker Jason Reitman, the son of the original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman
The sequel will ignore Paul Feig’s 2014 reboot and serve as a sequel to the original movies, with it being reported that four teenagers will take up the mantle of the Ghostbusters, and now, it has been revealed that Black Mirror actress Sarah Abbot has auditioned for one of the lead roles.
HN Entertainment uncovered audition tapes of the young Canadian actress Abbott, who played Sara Sambrell in the Arkangel episode from the latest series of Black Mirror.
In an earlier report from HN Entertainment reported two-character breakdowns:
A 13-year-old boy who is described as a conspiracy theorist that is really into fantasy.
A 12-year-old girl who is a science kid that has trouble connecting with others on an emotional level, understanding feelings and not be aware how hurtful her comments can be.
The audition tape showed Abbot reading dialogue for the socially awkward unnamed preteen girl, who jokes only to hurt her friends’ feelings.
Official casting news should be around the corner, with Sony Studios eyeing a summer 2020 release. I just hope some of the original cast will return to mentor our new generation of Ghostbusters.
