A Furiousa spin-off is gearing up to go from Mad Max director George Miller and the cast is starting to fall into place.
Miller is in advance stages of development on the film which focuses on the origins of Furiosa before she teamed up with Max Rockatansky in Fury Road, who was played by Oscar winner Charlize Theron in the 2015 film.
Per Deadline, Anya Taylor-Joy will take over the reigns of the titular role. Joining her are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) whose roles are being kept under wraps.
Director Miller will also co-write and produce with long-term producing partner Doug Mitchell. Fury Road co-writer Nico Lathouris penned the script with Miller. Production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt, who each of won an Oscar for their work on Fury Road return aslong with first assistant director PJ Voeten and second unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris.
The expansion of the Mad Max universe is a welcome one and it will be great to delve deeper into the story of Furiosa. I can’t wait for this one.
