Warner Bros. has been busy as of late, casting key roles in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Now, Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy) is reported to be in talks to join the upcoming villain team-up sequel.
According to The Wrap, Rooker—a frequent collaborator of Gunn’s—is in negotiations to play King Shark, a humanoid shark who originally terrorized Hawaii, but now operates as a member of the Suicide Squad. Contrary to popular belief, King Shark is indeed a shark.
Rooker joins fellow newcomers to the franchise David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Idris Elba and John Cena. Both Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney are returning to their roles as Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang from the original film.
The Suicide Squad is expected to go into production this fall. With it set to hit screens August 6, 2021.
