Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters film will be a continuation of the original two his father helmed in the 80’s and it looks like some of the original cast is returning.

Sigourney Weaver, who played Dana Barrett confirmed her return along with Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd’s in an interview with Parade Magazine.

“She’s also set to reunite with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the new Ghostbusters, due July 2020. ‘It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!’ she says. She won’t reveal any details except to confirm she’s reprising her role as hauntee Dana Barrett.”

This news of the original cast returning will no doubt excite fans of the franchise. Now hopefully Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts board the project too. I don’t think there’s any chance of Rick Moranis returning, I know stranger things have happened, but I just don’t see it.

The film is said follow Carrie Coone (The Leftovers) a single mother and her family, played by Finn Wolhard (Stranger Things) and McKenna Grace (Captain Marvel).

Over the weekend, Ghostbusters fan fast was held at Sony Pictures Plaza, Culver City, California and in attendance was Reitman who spoke about the new film.
